Motor relief payment

We recognise the effort our customers are making to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by staying at home and keeping travel to a minimum. With fewer cars on the roads during the current travel restrictions, we’re seeing a reduction in the number of claims coming in.

We’ve already sent out €40 One4all gift cards to over 95% of our personal motor customers

While it will be some time before we can assess the full impact of COVID-19, we want to provide support for our loyal customers, now at this difficult time. Since 22 June we’ve sent €40 relief payment for each vehicle insured with us in the form of One4all gift cards to over 95% of our customers. Our plan is to send these to all remaining qualifying customers by mid-August.

As well as refunding savings we make from fewer motor claims due to reduced traffic movement, we have also put in place a range of other support measures for personal and business customers like our priority claims and breakdown service for frontline workers as well as helping our community, charity partners and supporting mental wellbeing.

If you haven’t received your voucher yet, you don’t need to contact us or do anything, and we’ll be in touch when we send you your relief payment over the next few weeks.

Am I eligible for the payment?

All existing private motor and light commercial vehicle customers insured with us on 24 April 2020 will receive a payment.

What do I need to do to get my payment?

You don’t need to do anything. We’ll make things as easy as possible for you and we’ll get in touch when we send out your relief payment. Since 22 June we’ve already sent almost 50% of customers their €40 One4all gift cards. Our plan is to send these to all qualifying customers by the end of July.

Why One4All gift cards?

We believe this is in the best interest of our customers and their local communities. One4all gift cards offer a simple, safe and reliable solution during the current restrictions. One4All can process all gift cards within a short timeframe and they will give customers access to over 8,500 retail businesses across the country, including grocery retailers or to support a number of charities, while also encouraging people to support their local communities by shopping local, playing an important part in our economic recovery.

Can I still use my car?

Yes you can still use your car subject to the Government guidance on travel.

I have already suspended my policy with you. Do I still get this refund?

Yes, so long as your policy was insured with us on 24 April 2020 you will receive a payment.

I have already made a claim on my policy; will I still get a refund? 

Yes, all existing private motor and light commercial vehicle insurance customers will receive a payment, even if you have made a claim.

What else is Zurich doing to play its part?

As well as refunding all savings we make from reduced motor claims due to reduced traffic movement, we have a range of other support measures which we have put in place for personal customers.

These include:

  • Priority claims and breakdown service for frontline workers.
  • Extended renewal grace period of 28 days.
  • No cancellation fees or missed direct debit fees.
  • Extension of cover under standard household policies to include homeworking.
  • Cover for volunteer driving associated with COVID-19.
  • Providing six month extensions for lapsing NCTs and driving licences.
