Zurich standing together with Pride

Zurich is committed to building an inclusive culture across our business and partnering with Pride Dublin again this year will see us celebrate diversity, freedom and respect.

In 2021, Zurich in Ireland partnered with Dublin Pride for the first time as part of our strategy to build an inclusive culture, educate and increase awareness around diversity and above all, to celebrate our differences.

Since then, we have hosted many events including Lunch’n’Learns with the Pride@Work team from Dublin Pride; Robbie Lawlor’s session on HIV in Ireland; to the more recent ‘This is us, this is me’ campaign where Zurich employees share their stories.

June is Pride month and is an important opportunity to celebrate and reflect on how far we have come since the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising in NYC. It is also a time to see how much more there is still to do.

At Zurich we have an exciting programme of events lined up in support of diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging. In addition to Zurich taking part in the Dublin Pride march and parade on Saturday 25th June, we are hosting a number of events to come together as a community and march proudly in support of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).

Friday 3rd June: ‘The Journey of Pride’ presented by Dublin Pride

Want to know your protests from your parades? From The Stonewall Inn of New York City to Fairview Park in Dublin, global and local events helped shape the journey of LGBTQ+ people and their communities. With hard-fought victories in Ireland in terms of Marriage Equality, blood donation and Gender Recognition – what are the most pressing priorities for LGBTQ+ organisations now? How can we support groups and organisations trying to operate in hostile countries, and what can everyone do to make a difference? Zurich employees will listen in to this informative session that will help shine a light on all the work, past and present and how much there still is to do.

Wednesday 8th June: How to Support LGBTQ+ Employees in the Workplace

Among any group there will be a range of people with a range of sexualities and genders. This variation is often described using the image of a rainbow to demonstrate that sexual orientation and gender identity can be more than one or any other type. This training programme considers how to create a positive work environment where difference is understood and respected.*

Tuesday 14th June: Zurich Pride Coffee Morning

All staff are invited to join a coffee morning in our offices and virtually on Tuesday 14th June at 10am.

Wednesday 22nd June: Oliver Callan

Zurich employees will join Oliver Callan, comedian and voice actor, as he shares his personal story of growing up gay in Ireland. Oliver is best known for his sharp parodies of national and international political, social and entertainment figures. His acerbic wit and talent for mimicry has made him a household name as well as a respected commentator and writer.*

Saturday 25th June: Dublin Pride March & Parade

This year, as part of our partnership with Dublin Pride, a number of Zurich employees across the island of Ireland will have the opportunity to take part in the Dublin Pride march and parade on Saturday 25th June from 12-3pm.

Tuesday 28th June: Laura Corrigan in conversation with Trevor O’Gorman, Vice-Chair of the Zurich Pride UK group

The Pride UK group was established to help create an environment of respect and understanding in the workplace. Trevor will speak about what allyship looks like and his responsibilities as a Pride UK Role Model.

Thursday 30th June: Pride Bingo

Pride Bingo is a high energy online party experience for Zurich employees with an exciting twist on bingo. The standard bingo format has been replaced by much-loved music clips and party games.*

These events lined up for Pride Month are for everyone – whether you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, an ally or just interested in hearing and learning more. There is a power in people coming together to learn from each other and to support each other. This is especially important for the Pride Parade where everyone is welcome to show their support and enjoy a fun day out.

*These events are organised by Vhi.
