Headstart awardee Liquid Therapy in the news

Donegal based Liquid Therapy recently featured in local and national media about the great work they continue to do, as one of the 10 Irish non-profits awarded funding from the €3 million HeadStart fund.

The HeadStart fund supports innovative mental health programmes and is funded by the Z Zurich Foundation and HSE, who each provided €1.5 million funding.

In 2022, Liquid therapy opened the first Inclusive Surf Centre in the country, at Rossnowlagh Beach in Co. Donegal. And this month, the award winning social enterprise and registered charity launched Ireland’s first seated surfboard, which recently picked up local media coverage in the Donegal Daily.

Tom Losey, CEO Liquid Therapy was interviewed on Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1 about the seated surfboard and the work Liquid Therapy do to help people living with disability or extra needs enjoy the positive benefits of surfing. Enda McCormick spoke in the interview, on behalf of his brother Conor who enjoyed the surfing experience with Liquid Therapy: "It was just an experience you never thought was ever going to happen and to be honest I've never seen Conor as happy in all my life."

Liquid Therapy is committed to fostering an environment where people can reap the therapeutic and physical rewards of surfing and ocean activities, regardless of their challenges.

In addition to funding provided by the Z Zurich Foundation for the HeadStart fund, Zurich is very supportive of employees wishing to volunteer in our communities. You can read more about the community initiatives we support and volunteer at here.
