Zurich has committed to supplying resources to schools through the P2P programme as part of our efforts to make a difference in the local communities in which we operate. This programme highlights to parents/guardians the diverse range of options available to students and illustrates the transformative potential of education. The P2P programmes key focus is bringing education to everyone and providing inspiration and possibilities to students and helping to create opportunities.
What is Power to Progress (P2P)?
P2P is a Z Zurich Foundation funded program which sees UCD and Zurich Ireland join forces to address educational inequality in Ireland. P2P seeks to foster educational resilience in the Irish educational system with a three-year intervention plan for senior cycle DEIS school students. P2P also informs Zurich on educational policy for future students, via an integrated four-year PhD.
Through the programme, Zurich recently donated sixty recycled computer monitors between three participating schools. This provided a much-needed support to the participating schools and the Zurich staff who facilitated this received great feedback:
“Thank you both very much for the monitors, we have some already installed in our computer room and they are working perfectly. Thank you very much.”
“I wanted to thank you so much for the 20 monitors that you donated to the school, our IT manager was delighted to receive them. It is great to see companies making a conscious effort to support the work that schools are doing. Again we very much appreciate this and know they will be put to good use.”
“The chairs are a big hit especially with the students who have ADHD. On a visit to Finland a few years ago I noticed that all the schools we visited had chairs with wheels - made perfect sense to me but we couldn't stretch the budget”
