Bonds are essentially loans to governments or companies which are returned with a pre-determined rate of interest to the investor. Details of the different Bond funds you can choose from are listed below.

The Global Corporate Bond Fund (JP Morgan) is a unit-linked fund that gives you the opportunity to gain exposure to corporate bonds.

The Global Government Bond Fund (JP Morgan) is a unit-linked fund that gives you the opportunity to gain exposure to government bonds. It does this by investing in the JP Morgan Global Government Bond Fund.

The Indexed Eurozone Government Bond Fund (BlackRock) is a unit-linked fund that gives you the opportunity to participate in the performance of the euro-denominated EMU government bond market. This fund is managed by BlackRock Asset Management Ireland Limited.

  • Opportunity to invest in the euro-dominated EMU government bond market.
  • The fund currently invests in the ISHARES Euro Government Bond Index
  • The fund will not take any non-euro currency exposure.

The Active Fixed Income Fund is an actively managed bond fund. It primarily invests in bonds issued by eurozone governments and bond-based financial instruments. It may also invest in supranational bonds and other investment grade corporate and non-sovereign bonds.

  • Actively managed by Zurich Life.
  • A maximum 30% in non-eurozone bonds.

The Indexed Inflation-linked Bond Fund is a unit-linked fund that gives you the opportunity to participate in the performance of Eurozone government inflation-linked bonds.

  • Opportunity to invest in Eurozone government inflation-linked bonds.
  • Potential to make higher returns, in the event of higher than expected future eurozone inflation.
  • This fund will not take any non-euro currency exposure.
  • Aims to track performance of the Bloomberg Barclays Euro Government Inflation-Linked Bond Index.
  • Invests in an ETF managed by BlackRock Asset Management Ireland Limited.

The Long Bond Fund aims to achieve growth by investing mainly in longer-dated bonds with over ten years to maturity primarily issued by eurozone governments.

  • Actively managed by Zurich Life.
  • Invests mainly in bonds with over ten years to maturity.

The Medium Duration Corporate Bond Fund is an actively managed bond fund. It primarily invests in investment grade corporate bonds. The average duration of the bonds will typically be 5 to 7 years, but may extend down to 2 years or up to 10 years. It may also invest in supranational bonds and sovereign bonds.

The Short Duration Corporate Bond Fund is an actively managed bond fund. It primarily invests in investment grade corporate bonds. The average duration of the bonds will typically be 1 to 3 years, but may extend down to 0 years or up to 5 years.
