Zurich Ireland’s charity partners, Alone, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, and Windmill together support some of the most vulnerable people in our society and have been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, by both an increased demand for their services and a decrease in incoming funds.
Many charities and community organisations are looking for support right now. In addition to ramping up our fundraising initiatives, we are assisting our employees in getting involved in community efforts, and have extended our volunteering leave for every employee from one day annually to three days annually for 2020.
Alone helps older people to stay at home and age. In recent weeks, loneliness and isolation has been a growing issue.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland looks after those living with dementia around the country. They offer hope and practical support through services such as the national helpline, home care and carer training.
Windmill supports people with intellectual disabilities in living a rich and inclusive life.
Funds raised by Zurich will help these vital charities to continue the work that they do and provide services that are in greater need at this time.
In addition, we are currently running a pilot to call our vulnerable customers over 70 years of age in Wexford and Wicklow who are cocooning at this difficult time. We are checking in to make sure they are okay and to let them know about the nationwide Community Call service.
